Multi Level Teacher: Grades 1-9


The Twampane Community School at Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage Trust near Chingola, Zambia seeks a multi-level Teacher for grades 1-9. This position involves teaching school children at our community school in collaboration with government teachers and head teachers. The school is embedded in a chimpanzee rehabilitation and conservation center, with the possibility of connecting to experienced ape keepers, researchers and volunteers. The teacher will be expected to develop and emphasize academic and extra-curricular activities related to the goals of the Chimfunshi Wildlife Orphanage.

  1. Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet the diverse needs and interests of students and the program objectives
  2. Establish and enforce a very good notion of due process for all administrative policies.
  3. Establish and enforce a very good notion of respect for the rules of procedure to maintain order among the students for whom you are responsible.
  4. Work as a team so that there is good cohesion at school and continuity of work from one class to another. Colleagues from the same class or department come together to jointly organize course objectives, program distribution, curricular  and extracurricular activities.
  5. Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, presentation and demonstrations
  6. Work in constant contact with the family. The teacher has a supporting role in parenthood.
  7. Educate families about different educational tools to help children learn at home and help determine priorities for their children and their resource needs.
  8. Observe and assess student performance, behavior, social development and physical health.
  9. Appreciate the child in their learning and know how to identify and support them in case of school difficulties.
  10. Prepare students for later years by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and persevere with challenging tasks
  11. Instill discipline and a sense of responsibility
  12. Effectively plan and conduct extracurricular activities and participate fully in Parent-Teacher Association activities
  13. Take control of reading books, textbooks and all materials in the classroom and reading rooms
  14. Understand which activities must be complementary to the programs (theoretical/practical) followed by
    the learners and approved by the various councils and the administration.


  1. Knowledge of different teaching methods (primary, nursery) and ability to adapt them to educational content
  2. Speak fluent Bemba and English
  3. Ability to connect with and relate to other humans

  6. Positive communication skills with students, including encouragement, stimulating curiosity and the ability to readjust explanations to meet student needs
  7. A minimum working knowledge of conservation, activity planning, learning methods and learning techniques, techniques for evaluating teaching-learning processes, use of computer hardware and software
